Art Workshops for Kids & Tweens

In each session, young artists will learn a variety of art techniques while creating fun winter-themed projects.

Thursday, December 26
10–11:30 AM

This is a mixed media project of a snow globe. The globe is represented by a paper plate, with a felt snow man on top.

There are four snowy collagraphs made by printmaking. Each are filled with shapes and are very symmetrical. The top left and bottom right have warm colors while the top right and bottom left have cool colors.

12–1:30 PM

Four pop art mittens. The right two are spotted against triangle backgrounds, while the left two have vertical lines against solid color and striped backgrounds.

Pop Art Mittens in Pastel (ages 6–9)

This is a wintery diorama. It is made out of a box that has been cut open in the middle. Inside, there are patterned trees, a line of houses, and hanging clouds.

A mixed media 2-D gingerbread house. The sides are made up of brown popsicle sticks and the roof is white popsicle sticks. The wall, chimney, door, and window are made up of felt and pipe cleaners. Everything is decorated with candy cane and mint images.

There is a rainbow of winter hats, with the picture focusing on the blue one. They are mixed media, the "knitted" part of the hat being made using watercolor and the pompom being made using yarn.

A Picasso-inspired snowmen. The page is split up into block of color, with the snowman blocks, being white and light blue and the background blocks having the whole rainbow. The snowman is sporting two twig arms, a carrot nose, a red and orange button on its body, and a black hat.

There are 4 pictures, each starring one person participating in a winter sport. The ones are the left are ice skating, while the top right is playing hockey and the bottom right is skiing. Each of these painting are made using pastels.
