Adult Printmaking Classes

8764 Printmaking On and Off the Press

Mondays, 9:30 AM – 12 PM
Explore the many possibilities of printmaking in this class! Printing processes both on and off the press, such as monoprinting, drypoint etching, block printing, and collagraphs, will be covered. Class time will consist of demonstrations, discussions, working on the presses, and one–on–one instruction. Most materials provided.

8801 Textile Printing and Surface Design

Tuesdays, 12:30 – 3 PM
Learn alternative printmaking techniques on fabric to create abstract prints! Students will use linoleum blocks and even potatoes to create various designs. Students will be encouraged to think abstractly and obtain knowledge about different carving techniques in order to create one-of-a-kind prints. This class is designed for students at any skill level. By the end of the class, each student will walk away with a fabric print, perfect for a wall hanging.

8839 Introduction to Gel Plate Printmaking

Wednesdays, 4 – 6:30 PM
Learn the popular art form of gel plate monoprinting in this colorful and creative class! Gel plate printing utilizes a reusable soft gel plate and acrylic paint to create beautiful prints without needing a press. Learn the basics of gel plate printing, including layering colors and patterns, adding visual textures, masking, using positive and negative space, and pulling prints. Besides finished artwork, prints can be used as part of other crafts, including collage and scrapbooking. Most materials provided.

8846 NEW! Experimental Printmaking

Wednesdays, 7 – 9:30 PM
Explore the endless possibilities of printmaking in this class! Students will explore a variety of processes on and off the press, as well as silkscreen printing. From printing with found objects like doll clothes and old radiator parts, to making prints on a pasta maker, this class will push the boundaries of traditional printmaking. Class time will be spent playing with materials and inks to create finished prints, as well as learning methods of making large-scale prints. Most materials provided. Other supplies to be purchased will be discussed during the first class. Please bring a sketchbook to the first class.

8857 Exploring Etching in Color and Black & White

Explore traditional and contemporary etching methods, including monotype and monoprinting. Experience this beautiful and versatile art form for yourself! Some materials provided. Additional supplies to be discussed during the first class. This class is taught by an instructor who is bilingual in Russian and English. 8879 Introduction to Silkscreen

Fridays, 9:30 AM – 12 PM
Learn everything you need to know about the process of silkscreen! In this class, the instructor will cover the whole method from start to finish, discuss supplies, and how to recreate the set up for yourself at home. Students will focus on creating works of art on paper, but textile printing will be covered as well. The class will start with demonstrations and students will have lots of time to create and explore the process. Some supplies provided.
