Kid Ceramics Classes
6411 Clay Critters (ages 5–7)

Tuesdays, 4–5:30 PM
Does your child like getting their hands dirty and love animals? This is their class! Working with clay will strengthen your child’s understanding of gravity, science, and nature—plus it is super fun! Different sculptural methods will be introduced as we recreate our favorite members of the animal kingdom: a wonderful way to have fun and learn about animal anatomy. 10 sessions: 9/19–11/28 (no class on 10/31)

6363 Ceramics Fundamentals (ages 10–15)
Instructor: Shelley Rosen Howard
Tuesdays, 4–6 PM
Create pieces by handbuilding, throwing, or a combination of both techniques. Students will be guided through a variety of methods to build, decorate, and glaze their ceramic projects. This class will provide an opportunity to explore, get messy, and have creative fun! Designed for any skill level, this class is a great introduction to ceramic fundamentals.

6390 Creative Ceramics (ages 10–15)

Wednesdays, 4–6 PM
Call it a clay day! Gain a solid foundation for wheel throwing and learn handbuilding techniques such as slab, pinch, and sculpture. Glaze and texture ceramics in this inspiring atmosphere as well.

6395 Hooray for Clay! (ages 6–9)
Instructor: Melissa Krishnamurthy
Thursdays, 4–5:30 PM
Do you like to be creative and get messy? Then let’s create with clay! Students will learn handbuilding techniques such as pinch-pots, coil, press-mold, and slabs to build fun projects. Projects will change each session, so repeat students are welcome.
10 sessions: 10/5–12/14

6394 Introduction to the Pottery Wheel & Beyond! (ages 9–12)
Instructor: Shelley Rosen Howard
Thursdays, 4–5:30 PM
Take the wheel in this introductory thrown-pottery class. Explore basic wheel throwing techniques such as centering, opening, pulling, and shaping clay. Students will learn how to make functional forms such as bowls and mugs and will also learn how to decorate and glaze their pieces to finish them. While the emphasis of this class is on using the potter’s wheel, students will also explore handbuilding techniques.

6420 Jump in the Mud (ages 10–15)

Saturdays, 10 AM–12 PM
Specialize in ceramics! Play with mud while you learn to make wheel-thrown bowls, mugs, and more in this introductory pottery class. After you throw, trim, and glaze your work, take home pottery you will be proud of! Please bring a smock or wear clothes that can get messy.
8 sessions: 9/23–12/2 (no class on 10/28, 11/11, & 11/25)
