Artist’s Statement:
Bits and Pieces invites viewers to experience nature through the eyes of artist Kat Block. Each collage included in this exhibition features a different time of day or season in Summit’s Briant Park. Block depicts this natural variation of color, light, and foliage through her seamless combination of paper and paint. By meticulously organizing and layering deconstructed patterned paper, Block’s dense and colorful collages achieve a meditative quality. This complexity allows viewers to notice and enjoy something new each time they see her work.
