Joseph Borzotta: Mixed Feelingss

Marité & Joe Robinson Strolling Gallery II
January 8–February 20
Happy Day 2

Happy Day, 2020, Acrylic and paper on board, 9×12 inches

Having painted mostly realism, Borzotta began experimenting with abstract backgrounds and using paper. The result is a mix of realism, abstraction, and collage. Most of the pieces in this show were created during COVID and reflect that time and the myriad of feelings it generated. There is also an underlying element of the chaotic political/social period we all went through. Several of these works are about solitude and forced solitude, relating to one’s self, others, and one’s environment, through the prism of COVID and quarantine.
