NEW! OIL PAINTING AND SOFT SCULPTURE (ages 13+)
July 8–12, 10 AM–3 PM
Oil Painting: Painting can seem difficult, but it doesn’t have to be! Teens will learn the foundational skills of painting in oils. This camp will cover the basics, including blocking in a composition, color mixing, value studies, and proper handling of materials. Students should wear clothes that can get messy.
Soft Sculpture: This camp takes the best of fiber arts and sculpture and merges them into a whole new art form: soft sculpture! Using textural materials such as felt, fibers, and notions—along with imagination and creativity—campers will design, prototype, and create both relief sculpture and sculpture in the round. Being able to sew is a bonus, but not necessary, since multiple methods of soft sculpture construction will be covered. Teens will create several projects ranging in scale over the course of the week.
