Artist’s Statement:
Fifteen years ago, Bruce McClellan enrolled in instructor Valeri Larko’s landscape painting class at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. Continuing his studies since, Feel the Moment showcases the development of McClellan’s skills over the past decade and a half under Larko’s instruction. McClellan credits his classes and classmates with introducing him to a wide range of landscape subjects, from fields and skies to urbanscapes. This exposure helped him understand the space his work occupies within this genre and contributed to his progression as an artist. McClellan believes that landscape paintings, in addition to depicting a scene, represent a moment as it is felt and experienced, which is thereby shared with the viewer.
