Adult Printmaking Classes
6503 Contemporary Printmaking

Mondays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
This class will cover a variety of printmaking techniques, with an emphasis on monoprint, intaglio, relief, and mixed processes. With a push towards experimentation, students will be challenged to create new works toward the creation of an artist books, a suite of prints, or a new body of work. We will fluctuate between direct group instruction, demonstration, individual instruction, and ample open studio work time. This allows students to learn new processes/techniques and explore them through hands-on work while seeking advice from the instructor and other students. Students will finish this course with the creation of a new art object: an artist book, a suite of prints, or a new body of work.

6504 Contemporary Printmaking: Guided Open Studio

Mondays, 12:30–3 PM
For students enrolled in David DiMarchi’s Contemporary Printmaking course, we’re offering the extra time you’ve been dreaming about! Use this additional session to further your practice. Continue working on unfinished plates and delve deeper into techniques under the instructor’s guidance. Please note: New techniques will not be introduced, but students are welcome to develop the skills they have learned, harness working with the press, and explore their individual voices as artists.

6631 Intermediate/Advanced Silkscreen

Tuesdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Learn the basics of silkscreen or take your practice to the next level! This class will explore stencil-based printing that can be done at home and will focus on exposing drawn images onto silkscreens. Students will learn every step of the process, plus tips and tricks for making multi-layered silkscreen prints. Class time will include demonstrations, one-on-one work with the instructor, group discussions, and creating a new body of work or experimenting with new ideas. Some materials provided. Additional supplies to be discussed during the first class.

6665 NEW! Monotype Printmaking
Instructor: Kristian Battell
Thursdays, 6:30–9 PM
This class will explore the different ways to create one-of-a-kind monotype prints. Students will learn all about the materials and tools needed for this process, as well as learning how to use the press. Class time will include demonstrations, one-on-one work with the instructor, group discussions, and open press time to create a new body of work, or to just have fun with new techniques. No previous printmaking experience is required. Exploration and experimentation with the processes are encouraged. Some materials provided. Additional supplies to be discussed during the first class.

6567 Exploring Etching in Color and Black & White
