4103 NEW! Explorations in Watercolor (ages 10–14)

Mondays, 4–6 PM
Come and explore the possibilities of this vibrant and versatile medium. Learn various painting techniques, how to make textures in watercolor using a variety of materials, and how to layer and blend color to create luminosity. Students can reproduce the painting demonstrated in class or work from their own sketch or photo reference. Individual attention will be emphasized.

4014 Clay Critters (ages 5-7)

Does your child like getting their hands dirty and love animals? This is their class! Working with clay will strengthen your child’s understanding of gravity, science, and nature—plus it’s super fun! Different sculptural methods will be introduced as we recreate our favorite members of the animal kingdom; a wonderful way to have fun and learn about animal anatomy.

4104 Handbuilt Clay Creations (ages 9–12)

Explore handbuilding techniques in this fun mini-class. First, learn how to make pinch pots into your favorite animal. Then learn how to use slabs to build a treasure box for your favorite jewelry, shells, or collectables. Students will finish their creations with colorful glazing.

4199 NEW! Get in the Mix: Mixed Media and Beyond (ages 6–9)

Mix things up and create unique and fun 2D and 3D works of art in this exciting class. Over the course of five weeks we will create 3–4 artworks combining various media in each piece. Use paint, oil pastels, and paper to create a one of a kind collage or use papier mâché, paint, and more to create a unique sculpture. The possibilities are endless! All you need is your imagination and a smock.

3989 Creative Ceramics (ages 10–15)

Call it a clay day! Gain a solid foundation for wheel-throwing, and learn handbuilding techniques such as slab, pich, and sculpture. Glaze and texture ceramics in this inspiring atmosphere as well. Class time has been extended to two hours to give students extra time on their creations.

Are you a fan of fantasy fiction, films, and anime? Join Doug Baron on a fantastic journey with popular characters from Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Fullmetal Alchemist, and more. 4110 Introduction to the Pottery Wheel (ages 9–12)

Take the wheel in this introductory thrown-pottery class. Explore basic wheel-throwing techniques such as centering, opening, pulling, and shaping clay. Students will learn how to make functional forms such as bowls and mugs and will also learn how to decorate and glaze their pieces to finish them.

Learn three types of jewelry making in this exciting class: beading, polymer clay, and wire working. Students will learn how to create beautiful paper beads, colorful polymer clay creations, and manipulate wire into jewelry by bending, wrapping, and weaving it. Explore the world without leaving town! We will create art inspired by different countries and cultures. Join us and learn how to create Oaxacan animal sculptures, African Masks, Guatemalan worry dolls, and Greek vessels. 4160 NEW! Paper Quilling (ages 9–12)

Paper quilling (or paper filigree) is a decorative art with a history that goes back to the 15th century. Different color strips of paper are curled, folded and arranged into intricate patterns to create colorful, dimensional images. Students will learn various quilling techniques such as closed coil, teardrop, star, crescent, and open heart. Students will then use these techniques to create an image.

Draw with detail. Learn the fundamentals of drawing using graphite, charcoal powders, toned paper, and Conté pencil to explore topics and gain skills. In this relaxed class, learn key skills through in-depth demonstrations. Practice drawing different types of fabric texture and patterns as well as metallic and glass objects. Students will also draw a live, clothed model.

This class is for students looking to take the next step in developing their skills and artistic training. The first part of the class will focus on exercises in charcoal and graphite of various subjects (including drawing from clothed models) focusing on texture, form, proportion and value. The second part of the class will focus on acrylic painting techniques, including color theory, brush work, and styles of painting.

Create your own modern dollhouse complete with furniture, wallpaper, and finishes using sturdy cardboard, wood, papier-mâché, paint, and so much more. Design and build furniture, add wallpaper, flooring, and tile. The possibilities are endless!

Make your own awesome superhero headquarters in this exciting new class! Use sturdy cardboard, fabric, paint, model magic, and more to create a one-of-a-kind superhero lair. Each headquarters will include a lounge, a surveillance room/lab, a garage, and even a helipad! Students will also decorate and make all the furniture for their superhero headquarters.
