5881 Experimenting with Mixed Media in 2D & 3D

Wednesdays, 1–3 PM
With a little imagination, anything can become a sculpture! Experiment with using and combining different mediums such as plaster, clay, fabric/fiber, papier mâché, or anything else that inspires you. Learn the language and techniques of using adhesives. Take your sculpting vision and abilities to the next level! Some materials provided; additional materials to be discussed in the first class.

5926 Introduction to Stained Glass

Tuesdays, 6:30–9 PM
Come explore the beautiful art of creating stained glass! This class will begin with the basics, such as making straight cuts and assembling a star shape. Students will progress to learning how to cut curves whlile creating a simple stained glass apple. Once the basic techniques are mastered, students will complete a 12” x 12” artwork of their own design. Working with the instructor, students will learn the techniques made famous by Tiffany, including designing, cutting, foiling, soldering, and finishing. No previous experience required! Some materials provided.

5880 Mixed Media Collage Intensive
Instructor: Kat Block
Wednesdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Use all your artistic abilities and skills to create an 18” x 18” mixed media collage while learning about color, design, pattern, drawing, watercolor, and more. Topics will include: creating a template; basic drawing, watercolor, and collage techniques; creating and deconstructing patterns; asymmetrical balance; extending the color palette; proper gluing; and varnishing. Demonstrations of materials and techniques will help guide students through their artistic process and creative journey. Some materials provided.

5986 NEW! Mixed Media
Instructor: Katherine Ivanova
Wednesdays, 12:30–3 PM
This mixed media class offers a fresh perspective on producing 2D works of art. Students will have the ability to explore a variety of techniques and sample new materials while learning about contemporary mixed media artists. Students will also learn how to create surface texture using paint, textile, thread, decorative paper, and images. Some materials provided.
