6016 Art Appreciation 102
Instructor: James Adkins
Thursdays, 7–8:30 PM
This easy-to-understand discussion series covers cultural influences, ideas, and times that informed artists’ and architects’ great works throughout history. Starting with the Byzantine Empire, we will explore the often under-appreciated medieval world and Islamic traditions. Next, Gothic Europe with its soaring architecture leads into the early modern period of the Renaissance with all of its great masters. Learn how Western art and culture rebounded from the fall of Rome and then achieved perhaps its greatest heights. All students welcome; there is no pre-requisite.
10 sessions: 4/6–6/8
Tuition: member $100, non-member $110
