3713 Art Journaling
Instructor: Heidi Sussman
Thursdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, art journaling is an innovative way to unleash your creativity. Journaling helps define what you want to accomplish with your art by exploring the connection between words and images, helping you gain confidence in your ability to be creative. Learn how to create mixed-media pages that reflect your personal expression in a book format using paint, photographs, pens, collage, and image transfers. Students will receive a blank journal at the first session. In addition, students will create individual pages and learn how to bind them into their own handmade journal.
5 sessions: 10/22–11/19
Tuition: member $160, non-member $170
Materials fee: $20

3712 Waxing Hot & Cold: Combining Photography with Encaustic & Cold Wax

We will discuss what types of photographs work best with wax, which substrates are suitable for adding wax to images, image transfers, and how to build texture as an alternative to flat two-dimensional prints. Health and safety measures for working with wax will be addressed.
