Begin, continue, or complete your personal digital projects in this highly individualized 10-week class. Students have the hands-on opportunity to develop new image-editing skills, create printed professional portfolios, or create their own personal digital expression. Scanners are also available to bring film and paper images into the digital medium. Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom Classic CC are the primary editing platforms. The instructor will discuss goals and materials in a welcome letter and in the first class.

3620 The Art of Seeing

Tuesdays, 6:30–9 PM
Raise your photography to the next level by taking an in-depth look at your surroundings and environment. Get more from your creative experience by discovering a new viewpoint through light, perspective, mood, and design. Weekly assignments and critiques will encourage students to share ideas that will help improve your skills. Please bring a thumb drive and notebook to class.

3621 The Photographer’s Eye

Tuesdays, 6:30–9 PM
Continue your photographic journey from “The Art of Seeing.” Using the previously learned elements of light, perspective, design, and mood, you will focus on different genres of photography. Students will be encouraged to produce new work each week, either a personal project or the photography topic of the week: nature and wildlife, people, street and travel, abstract, conceptual, or still-life. Class critiques will be a continued valuable benefit to share ideas that will help improve visual skills.

3631 Introduction to Photoshop
Instructor: Bill Blanchard
Thursdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
This class covers the basic concepts and tools used in Photoshop. Through demonstrations, instructional handouts, and hands-on computer use, learn the fundamentals of digital color, retouching, colorizing, and inkjet printing. The use of adjustment layers, layer masks, and filters will also be explored to emphasize image enhancement and creative freedom. This class is intended to prepare the student for the next level of Photoshop® skills. Materials will be discussed the first day of class; please bring a USB drive and digital card reader.

3632 Technology & Vision: Developing Your Photographic Voice
Instructor: Bill Blanchard
Thursdays, 12:30–3 PM
This comprehensive class will help photographers develop their technical skills and their individual artistic voices. Through hands-on practice, students will undertake an in-depth exploration of Photoshop’s potential to transform images to their specific vision. Students will work independently to manipulate the same image in Photoshop, allowing them to see different interpretations of the original image based on each artistic voice. Critiques and discussion will help students identify what concepts and elements they are interested in developing further in their own photographic vision.
