5393 Sculpting Animals in Ceramic
Instructor: Katie Truk
Tuesdays, 1–3 PM
We all love our furry friends–bring them to life in this class! Learn handbuilding and sculpting methods to create portraits of your pets or other favorite animals. Special attention will be given to correct construction techniques to ensure successful bisque-firing. Students will also explore different ways of decorating and finishing sculptures to achieve their vision.

5391 Sculpture

Wednesdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Explore 3D forms in clay, paper clay, papier-mâché, polymer, or plaster. This class gives intermediate to advanced students the opportunity to work on individual projects. We approach traditional and contemporary methods to enable you to find your creative voice and achieve an understanding of aesthetics in sculpture. Some materials provided; additional materials will be discussed during the first class.

5436 NEW! Introduction to Sculpting the Figure
Instructor: Stephen Yavorski
Wednesdays, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Learn to sculpt the figure with Plastelina, a non-hardening modeling clay. Each weekly lesson will build upon the last, from setting up our armatures to shaping our clay to represent the human form step-by-step. Finally, towards the end of the semester, we will sculpt a live model. Please note: This class uses both female and male life (nude) models. Students under 18 years of age must have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate. Please contact studioschool@artcenternj.org for more information.

5392 Experimenting with Mixed Media in 2D & 3D

Wednesdays, 1–3 PM
With a little imagination, anything can become a sculpture! Experiment with using and combining different mediums such as plaster, clay, fabric/fiber, papier-mâché, or anything else that inspires you. Learn the language and techniques of using adhesives. Take your sculpting vision and abilities to the next level! Some materials provided; additional materials will be discussed during the first class.
