Anti-Discrimination Policy
The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming community where lives are transformed and enriched through the shared experience of art.
It is our policy to prohibit discrimination and to ensure that no current employee or qualified applicant for employment or registration is discriminated against on the basis of disabilities and that qualified citizens with disabilities have equal access to all programs, services, and activities. The Art Center is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action institution and complies with applicable federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination. No person shall be discriminated against with regard to employment, educational programs, or admission on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, sex, status, disability, or veteran status. The Art Center holds that equal access, as applied to the disabled, places certain obligations on the institution. Moreover, both Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; and the Art Center’s own commitment to its audience require certain adjustments, including structural modifications when necessary to ensure adequate program accessibility for disabled participants. The Art Center has a designated coordinator to facilitate compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), as required by Section 35.107 of the U.S. Department of Justice regulations, and to coordinate compliance with Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The Art Center maintains that its goals as a non-profit, educational institution do not conflict with its Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Programs. The Art Center further maintains that the educational climate is greatly enriched by the diversity of its student body and staff.
The building is wheelchair accessible; and a wheelchair is available on site for guest use. If an individual requires other special accommodations to assist with disabilities, the Art Center requires a request in writing by mail, fax, or email. All requests must be received 15 business days in advance of the program or event.

Under sections 504 and 508 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, all public facilities, programs, and information must be accessible to all members of the public. If you experience difficulty with programming, information, or physical barriers at the Art Center, please contact us at:
