The exhibition, Elaine Denton: Finding My Voice, presents work that features familiar subjects ever-present in ordinary life. “My artwork tends to focus on visual snapshots of the every day,” says Denton. “Often I select subjects that are visible on a daily basis but are overlooked because people are so used to them—architectural details that were created at a time when labor was less expensive or scenes from the daily routine. I try to convey a feeling for the locale or the person I am painting and hope to provoke both curiosity from the viewer and a feeling of emotional recognition.” An opening reception for this exhibition will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 2–4 PM. The exhibition will be on view in Ann’s Place Gallery through August 20, 2018.
