Organized by the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in collaboration with Overlook Medical Center, this exhibition brings together the artwork of New Jersey-based artists Bryan Warner and Caren King Choi. The artworks on display are from two series, Choi’s Red Portraits and Warner’s Still Life. Featuring the faces and possessions of each artist’s family members, Choi and Warner use tonality and genre to reflect on their personal histories and role as parents.

Caren King Choi is a Chinese-Taiwanese-American artist, illustrator, and writer. Her artwork, which discusses issues such as representation and family, has been exhibited at venues across New Jersey. She is author and illustrator of two self-published books, including 2021’s Let It Happen: Doodles from a Parent’s First Year.

Bryan Warner is an artist and educator whose work is influenced by Japanese culture, coloring books, nostalgia, fatherhood, and growing up in a multi-racial family. He has exhibited across United States and is a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid Gallery in Philadelphia.
