SUMMARY:Winter Break Workshops for Adults
DESCRIPTION:Start the year right with a workshop at the Art Center! \n8374 Torch Enameling\nInstructor: Sue Sachs\nTorch enameling is a fantastic way to add vibrant colors to your copper or fine silver pieces without the need for a kiln. In this fun and direct process\, watch enamels transform from powder to colorful glass as your piece changes temperature with heat from a torch. Different techniques of torch enameling will be discussed\, as well as methods for setting finished pieces. No experience is necessary. Students who wish to work in silver should purchase fine silver sheet (not sterling).\nSunday\, 1/4\, 10 AM–4 PM\nTuition: $137\nMaterials fee: $38 \n8344 Painting with Wool: Needle Felting a Winter Landscape\nInstructor: Martha McDonald\nCreate a beautiful and unique winter wonderland scene entirely made of wool! Through demonstrations and step–by–step instruction\, students will learn about the versatility of this medium by transforming colorful wool roving into amazing textured art. Students will be encouraged to use their own ideas and leave with a completed felted canvas.\nSunday\, 1/4\, 10 AM–4 PM\nTuition: $137\nMaterials fee: $34 \n8373 Poinsettia Watercolor Painting\nInstructor: Kat Block\nEnroll in this one–day workshop to bring poinsettias to life with watercolor. Students will incorporate color\, shape\, line\, light\, and more to create a dynamic painting. The instructor will cover a variety of watercolor techniques\, such as creating warm tones and the “wet–on–wet” process to enhance the colors of the flower.\nSunday\, 1/4\, 10 AM–2 PM\nTuition: $110\nMaterials fee: $27 \n8375 NEW! Eclectic Non-Traditional Mosaics\nInstructor: Shelley Rosen Howard\nEclectic mosaics can be made with an assortment of recyclable and repurposed items\, such as broken glass\, beads\, charms\, broken china\, found objects\, or treasures from your favorite junk drawer! Each piece contributes to the color\, texture\, and unique quality of a collage–like mosaic. Students will take a non–traditional approach to create mosaics in this one–day workshop. Students are encouraged to bring their own “treasures” for their mosaic\, such as frames\, mirrors\, and other objects. Some materials provided.\nSunday\, 1/4\, 10 AM–2 PM\nTuition: $110\nMaterials fee: $27
