SUMMARY:Summer Art Camp: Week 7
DESCRIPTION:Returning Theme! Color Explosion  (ages 5–9) Waitlist Only\nJuly 28–August 1\, 10 AM–3 PM\nAfter a two-season hiatus\, Color Explosion returns! This camp introduces kids to the bold pop-art movement and other ways in which vibrant colors can be used in artwork. Kids will create projects that play with the use of colors\, such as vivid tie-dye patterns in pastel and jumbo sized crayons in paper mache. \nArt Journaling and Drawing with Pen & Ink (ages 10–12) \nJuly 28–August 1\, 10 AM–3 PM\nArt Journaling: Art journaling is a wonderful habit for everyone! Keeping a journal that contains one’s inspirations\, frustrations\, and dreams is a way to creatively process everyday life. Campers will make their own journal with simple bookbinding techniques and fill its pages both inside and outside of camp. We’ll also encourage students to share their journaling journey during camp.\nDrawing with Pen & Ink: From quick sketches to detailed drawings\, this camp will teach students the tips and tricks of pen & ink! Campers will explore techniques such as loose sketching\, cross-hatching\, and stippling as they learn to create contrast with texture and ink. We will also learn to create softer drawings using ink and a brush. Some basic drawing skills will also be covered. \nEverything Clay and Character Design (ages 10–12) Waitlist Only\nJuly 28–August 1\, 10 AM–3 PM\nEverything Clay: This camp is perfect for the student looking to explore various types of clay. During the week\, we will use the pottery wheel to throw and embellish a functional ceramic piece that will be glazed and fired in the kiln. We will also learn the techniques for working with paper clay\, from building an armature to give the clay structure to ways to decorate their creations using paint\, decoupage\, or other materials. Finally\, we will explore polymer clay by making everyday objects in miniature.\nCharacter Design: During this week of camp\, students will learn to design their own character(s) for comic books\, graphic novels\, or cartoons. They will focus on personality and expression plus learn anatomy and posing using the human body as reference. We will also have a chance to explore costume design for their character. Art All Year: Four Seasons of Art  (ages 5–9) Waitlist Only\nAugust 11–15\, 10 AM–3 PM\nThis ALL NEW week of camp highlights the artistry of the changing seasons.  Campers will create projects inspired by each of the four seasons\, like a spring daffodil painting\, summer seagulls in clay\, fall pumpkin paintings\, and winter snowman prints. \n2D Comics\, Cartoons & Anime and 3D “Cartoon” Clay (ages 10–12) \nAugust 11–15\, 10 AM–3 PM\nComics\, Cartoons & Anime: Calling all comic\, cartoon\, and anime lovers! Campers will explore drawing popular characters and work on simple and effective techniques for creating their own character concepts. Master a unique style of creating cartoon\, anime\, and comic art.\n3D “Cartoon” Clay: Let’s bring those characters to life! Campers will have the opportunity to utilize design thinking skills and foundational art skills as they create a 3D character of themselves\, an original character\, or recreate their favorites by adding unique personality traits and features.
