DESCRIPTION:Art Around America (ages 5–9) (4 days)\nJune 30–July 3\, 10 AM–3 PM\nCelebrate Independence Day through artwork inspired by American artists and famous landmarks. During this patriotic week\, we’ll make art projects such as an optical illusion American flag drawing and a diorama inspired by Grant Wood’s iconic American Gothic. \nWatercolor Explorations and Comics\, Cartoons & Anime (ages 10–12) (4 days)\nJune 30–July 3\, 10 AM–3 PM\nWatercolor Exploration: Watercolor is a classic painting medium that builds upon drawing skills and incorporates color theory. The foundations of watercolor painting and color mixing will be explored as campers are introduced to a variety of techniques\, including basic washes\, layering of paints\, and how to create strong compositions with the interplay of dark and light values.\nComics\, Cartoons & Anime: Calling all comic\, cartoon\, and anime lovers! Campers will explore drawing popular characters and work on simple and effective techniques for creating their own character concepts. Master a unique style of creating cartoon\, anime\, and comic art. \nBack by Popular Demand! Tiny Week and New! Non-Traditional Painting (4 days) (ages 13+) \nJune 30–July 3\, 10 AM–3 PM\nTiny Week: It’s a short week\, so let’s go small! Students will use multiple mediums to create unique sculptures and figures while exploring the art world at a miniature level. Have fun creating tiny art you can hold in your hand.\nNew! Non-Traditional Painting: During this 4 -day camp\, students will learn to paint using non-traditional painting tools. Students will paint using wax paper\, plastic bags\, fibers\, textured fabric\, objects from nature\, and more. They will even learn to use their hands to paint (gloves provided for those who prefer). Campers will get to create paintings using both representation and abstract styles.

Young artists will create projects inspired by dancing cows\, vegetable harvests\, and iconic green tractors and red barns. \nDrawing with Pen & Ink and Comics\, Cartoons & Anime (ages 10–12) Waitlist Only\nJuly 7–11\, 10 AM–3 PM\nDrawing with Pen & Ink: From quick sketches to detailed drawings\, this camp will teach you the tips and tricks of pen and ink! We will explore techniques such as loose sketching\, cross-hatching\, and stippling and learn to create contrast with texture and ink. Campers will also learn to create softer drawings using ink and a brush. Some basic drawing skills will also be covered.\nComics\, Cartoons & Anime: Calling all comic\, cartoon\, and anime lovers! Campers will explore drawing popular characters and work on simple and effective techniques for creating their own character concepts. Master a unique style of creating cartoon\, anime\, and comic art. \nOil Painting and Soft Sculpture (ages 13+) \nJuly 7–11\, 10 AM–3 PM\nOil Painting: Painting can seem difficult\, but it doesn’t have to be! Students will learn the foundational skills of painting in oils. This camp will cover the basics\, including blocking in a composition\, color mixing\, value studies\, and proper handling of materials. Students should wear clothes that can get messy.\nSoft Sculpture: This camp takes the best of fiber arts and sculpture and merges them into a whole new art form: soft sculpture! Using textural materials such as felt\, fibers\, and notions—along with imagination and creativity—campers will design\, prototype\, and create both relief sculpture and sculpture in the round. Being able to sew is a bonus\, but not necessary\, since multiple methods of soft sculpture construction will be covered. Students will create several projects ranging in scale over the course of the week.

Campers will learn several art techniques while cooking up projects like a diorama of a classic diner and paintings of delicious gingerbread people. \nSculpture Techniques and Jewelry Design (ages 10–12) Waitlist Only\nJuly 14–18\, 10 AM–3 PM\nSculpture Techniques: Create art in the round! Students will learn to use sculpting tools and techniques to create 3D sculptures.  Campers will go beyond handbuilding—they will learn more advanced techniques to refine and build their sculptures. Students will work with a variety of sculpture materials and complete a 3D sculpture during this camp.\nJewelry Design: Make wearable art! Campers will experiment with jewelry-making techniques to create pendants and bracelets of their own original designs. After starting with a sketch\, the instructor will guide campers on using the best materials to create their vision. Projects may include\, but are not limited to\, wrapped wire pendants\, polymer clay canes\, and recycled paper beads. \nNew! Paper Art and Painting with Acrylics (ages 13+) \nJuly 14–18\, 10 AM–3 PM\nPaper Art: During this week\, campers will make art using a variety of different kinds of paper. Students will learn to fold paper\, use pulp to paint\, explore quilling techniques\, collage with printed material\, and build sculptures with paper. Students will learn how to use paint\, fibers\, and other materials to enhance their paper creations.\nPainting with Acrylics: Have fun exploring this versatile medium. Students will learn how to block in a composition and see it come to life as they add paint to their canvas. They will learn the fundamentals of painting\, including brush techniques\, how to create light and shadow\, and color mixing. Campers will also learn how to handle the materials properly. Students should wear clothes that can get messy—acrylics don’t wash out of clothes!

This camp introduces kids to the bold pop-art movement and other ways in which vibrant colors can be used in artwork. Kids will create projects that play with the use of colors\, such as vivid tie-dye patterns in pastel and jumbo sized crayons in paper mache. \nArt Journaling and Drawing with Pen & Ink (ages 10–12) \nJuly 28–August 1\, 10 AM–3 PM\nArt Journaling: Art journaling is a wonderful habit for everyone! Keeping a journal that contains one’s inspirations\, frustrations\, and dreams is a way to creatively process everyday life. Campers will make their own journal with simple bookbinding techniques and fill its pages both inside and outside of camp.
