Have you thought about taking a class at the Art Center, but never signed up? Try our New Students Nights! Sample one of our upcoming mini-session classes and experience the Art Center for yourself, see our studios, meet our instructors, and make art! These nights are exclusively for students who have not taken a class at the Art Center since March 2019. If you’re already an Art Center student, please consider recommending this event to a friend you think would love our classes. New Student Nights—Creative Drawing Techniques
Wednesday, 3/18, 6:30–8:30 PM

Push your creativity to new heights by experimenting with new drawing techniques and media. Students will be introduced to the unique approaches to drawing that will be covered during the mini-session class that will give you new ways to explore while working with traditional and non-traditional art-making materials will be explored.

New Student Nights—Color Theory
Wednesday, 3/18, 6:30–8:30 PM

Understanding color harmony and the way colors interact are critical skills for artmaking in any medium. Through exercises, students will be introduced to concepts that will be covered during the mini-session class including: the principles of color theory and color mixing; create a color wheel; and experiment with using analogous, complementary, and monochromatic color schemes.

New Student Nights—Digital Art
Wednesday, 3/18, 6:30–8:30 PM

Digital art has never been more accessible than it is today allowing you to express yourself with the freedom only digital media provides; no clean up needed! Students will be introduced to content that will be covered in the full class learning about the various tools in Photoshop® and other programs using Wacom tablets and Mac computers to create full-color landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and more.

New Student Nights—Mosaics Basics
Thursday, 3/19, 6:30–8:30 PM

Welcome to the world of mosaics, where it’s not only okay to break things, it’s expected! Students will be introduced to the basics of mosaic making that will be covered in the mini-session class. Learn about the amazing variety of materials available, designing and composing your work, cutting and laying out tiles, and the grouting process.

New Student Nights—Wonderful Watercolor
Thursday, 3/19, 6:30–8:30 PM

Students will be introduced to the ins and outs of working with watercolors that will be covered in the full classes. Topics include: exploring watercolor tools, surfaces, and techniques; learning to perceive, mix, and paint colors and values; using drawing skills to help improve your painting.
