On Sunday, February 2, from 3–5 PM, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will host a last-look reception and informal artist talk to mark the closing of the fall exhibition, Painted Threads. Featured artists Mark Barrow and Sarah Parke, Crystal Gregory, Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson, Victoria Manganiello, and Oriane Stender will be in attendance to discuss their work, processes, and answer questions from the audience.
Painted Threads is a multi-media show exploring the intersection of weaving and painting in contemporary art. “All of the artists in Painted Threads are exploring weaving in diverse and interesting ways,” said Sarah Walko, the Art Center’s director of education & community engagement. “Many overlap with traditional techniques and then diverge from them, introducing innovative and contemporary approaches to the materials and presentation. With all of the unique approaches represented in this exhibition, it’s great that we can get the artists together to discuss their work a final time before the show closes.”
The artist talk is free and open to the public. Fall exhibitions will be on display through February 9.
