DIGITAL MEDIA STUDENTS OF PETER LESTER
Marite & Joe Robinson Strolling Gallery II
January 13 - April 1, 2012

Opening Reception: January 13, 6 pm - 8 pm

I believe that a patient and responsive teaching approach gives all students—complete beginners, young and old, photographers and fine artists—the necessary skills and confidence to employ Photoshop for a variety of interesting and rewarding projects. I aim to empower photographers with cutting edge technology, to encourage students to break free of the traditional and utilize Photoshop to create contemporary art, and also develop portfolios for gallery representation and/or college applications.

The work on display is by students who have taken my Photoshop 1, 2, and Personal Projects classes. Some of them have broken free of the traditional and are moving into new and exciting ways to use their cameras and Photoshop. Unusual techniques explored in class include shooting with a moving camera, zooming in with slow shutter speeds, blurring selections, color toning, even using a cracked glass vase as the camera lens. Other more traditional pieces reflect the ability to refine and perfect images unobtainable before the advent of digital editing. All of these Giclee prints were produced using state of the art digital imagery programs, professional quality image capture devices and high end large format Epson inkjet printers and papers available here at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.
