DAVID AMBROSE: AFTERimage
Mitzi & Warren Eisenberg Gallery
May 4 - July 8, 2012

Opening Reception: May 11, 6 pm - 8 pm

For over 20 years David Ambrose has been exploring elements found in or on architectural facades, interiors, or floor plans in his richly colored, intensely worked, paintings on hand-stitched lace or pierced paper. Ambrose observes similarities between lace patterns and the tracery and stonework of the great cathedrals. His work can be seen as a blending of the perceived “feminine” art of lacemaking and the “masculine” activity of building. The works in AFTERimage will challenge the viewer to look beyond the surfaces to find what is “hidden” below.
