STUDIO SCHOOL

Studio School Policies

We are so pleased you are interested in taking a class at the Art Center! You can register online, in person, or by phone. The policies listed below will be helpful in answering any questions you have about registration and logistics. Any additional questions can be directed to info@artcenternj.org.

Payment in full is due at registration. A $25 fee will be assessed for any returned check.

Students may enroll after the first meeting of a class at the full price, as the Art Center does not pro-rate for late enrollment. Students may not join a class after the second meeting.

The Art Center reserves the right to remove, without refund, minor students whose age is misrepresented. Students under 18 years of age must have written permission from a parent or guardian to attend any class that uses a life model.

In the event of a pricing error, the Art Center reserves the right to cancel any registration made with the erroneous price.

Email is our primary method of communication. Students who provide an email address will receive an automated receipt/confirmation of registration via email.

The Art Center reserves the right to dismiss any student for any behavior we deem inappropriate.

The Art Center allows students to audit classes only by permission of the Director of Studio School. No student substitutions allowed.

The Art Center is not responsible for artwork and other property left on the premises and has no liability if such property is lost or damaged, except in instances when artwork is displayed in a gallery exhibition and insurance coverage is in place. Any artwork left after the semester ends will be discarded. The Art Center is not responsible for any digital work saved to the computers in the digital lab.

Students may enter classrooms at or after 9:15 AM Monday–Friday and 10 AM Saturday & Sunday. Students should leave immediately after class. Animals, with the exception of service animals, are prohibited from entering the Art Center.

The Art Center schedules Open Studio hours dependent on studio availability. For ceramics Open Studio only, participants must be currently enrolled ceramics students. Other Open Studios are open to current Art Center members or current students for an hourly rate.

Kilns are reserved for firing current student work created during Art Center classes or Open Studios. No work created outside of the Art Center will be fired. All work must be properly marked with student’s full name and course number to be fired. Firing of work takes approximately two weeks from the time the piece was submitted for firing in the kiln room.

The Art Center reserves the right to substitute instructors or models for any class or workshop.

The Art Center will occasionally document classes and student work for promotional purposes. If you do not wish yourself or your child to be photographed or filmed, please notify the Art Center in writing. Recording of class sessions by students is not permitted.

Class sessions canceled by the Art Center (holidays, instructor absence, inclement weather, etc.) will be made up at the end of the semester. Students who miss class of their own accord will not receive a refund or make-up opportunity.

Please visit artcenternj.org or call 908.273.9121 for closing announcements due to inclement weather. The announcements will also be on News12 New Jersey television and Facebook.

Gift Certificates are available. They are not redeemable for cash or able to be used for membership payment or other fees and services.

A full refund will be given if a class or workshop is canceled by the Art Center. No refunds will be issued for classes or workshops cancelled due to circumstances beyond the Art Center’s control, such as acts of God or any other event that renders the class or workshop impossible or in violation of government mandates.

Students who choose to withdraw up to 48 hours prior to the start of a class or workshop will receive a full refund, minus any fees. Students who choose to withdraw less than 48 hours prior to the start of class will receive a prorated refund (less one session of class tuition). After the second meeting of class, no refunds will be issued. Students who withdraw less than 48 hours prior to the start of a workshop will not be refunded.

Refunds to an electronic voucher incur no fee. Electronic vouchers are valid for one year from date of issue. Credit card refunds are subject to a $20 handling fee. Refunds will be processed approximately 2 weeks from the date requested.
