The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey’s community engagement programs reflect our commitment to making art accessible to all audiences. These programs deliver engaging educational visual arts experiences to under-served, economically disadvantaged, and marginalized audiences. We serve the immediate community of Summit, as well as the surrounding Hudson, Union, Essex, Sussex, and Somerset Counties.

PROGRAMS FOR SPECIAL AUDIENCES
The Art Center carefully designs these programs to augment the services provided by our partner institutions. These programs encourage self-expression and explore creative processes, tools, and techniques.

AFTER-SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Created in partnership with several schools in the area, the Art Center sends our teaching artists out to lead various after-school programs. The program content ranges from the fundamentals of drawing and painting, to an after-school comic book program, to art-making with art history education program that focuses on an understanding of history and contemporary art.

Each enrichment program can be custom built to meet the interests of the students and the school. The program can run once a week from 6–12 weeks.
