About the Kids & Teens Art Camp Program:
The Art Center’s Kids & Teen Art Program has been developed to foster knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts. Students will explore a wide variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and three-dimensional work under the guidance of our highly qualified instructors. Each week, kids’ & teen classes conclude with a party where parents/caregivers are invited to view their child’s artistic creations. Teen classes are geared toward the more mature, aspiring artist, providing the perfect transition for children who have attended our camp program in the past. Portfolio Development Intensive
Ages 16 – 18

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey is pleased to introduce Portfolio Development Intensive, a new program for aspiring art students. This exciting program offers students the opportunity to produce a complete entrance portfolio for fine arts colleges over the course of four weeks. Based on the curriculums and portfolio requirements of the top five fine arts schools (RISD, School of Visual Arts, Pratt, Parsons, MICA), each week is designed to cover a specific topic. Each topic will be closely examined through demonstrations, hands on exercises, critiques and art history lessons, and will conclude with a class critique which parents are invited to attend. In addition to the 4 week sessions, there are supplementary Digital Photography workshops in which each student will have the opportunity to photograph their artwork with professional equipment and build a digital library of their work.

Schedule:
Session 1: July 14 – 18Perspective & Spatial Illusion
Session 2: July 21 – 25Compositional Studies through Still Life
Session 3: July 28 – Aug 1Figure Studies & Life Drawing
Session 4: Aug 4 – 8 Modern Painting Techniques

Saturday, August 9 12pm-4pm

During this workshop, students will learn how to digitally photograph their 2-D artworks while minimally adjusting tone and color for accurate reproductions. After using professional photography equipment, including cameras and lighting, files will be formatted and transferred to a CD. This CD will be ready for submission to any fine arts school. Also, learn how to order, label and present slides from digital files. Students should bring up to 20 of their best artworks.
