Presented by Dr. Lewis Kachur, Professor of Art History, Kean University and author of "Paraphrase: on Robert Rauschenberg's transfer drawings of the 1960's". Marcel Duchamp changed forever the role of the artist in the creation of art. Abandoning the traditional art goals of beauty or "self-expression" which still movitate many, Duchamp proposed to put "painting at the service of the mind." How do we understand the universe of the night sky- planets, stars, nebulae galaxies, even black holes and dark matter? Where did it all come from? How vast is it? Will it at some time collapse from Big Bang into the Big Crunch? Are there other universes?
