The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey offers several ways to earn professional development hours as a certified professional development provider of the New Jersey Department of Education.

Classes & Workshops
All Art Center classes and workshops are eligible for professional development hours. Upon completion of a course, students will be awarded a certificate detailing their participation and the number of hours they have earned. A typical 10-week course equals 25 professional development hours; a typical workshop equals six professional development hours.

Teachers’ Symposium
The Art Center’s Teachers’ Symposium is a unique professional development opportunity for art educators to come together, learn, and become inspired.

Teachers’ Symposia are led by a contemporary artist who leads a tour of the current exhibition followed by a hands-on workshop. Participants are encouraged to try new artistic methods and push their creative potential. Participants earn six professional development hours.
