Summer Programs

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey offers teens two opportunities to enhance their artistic abilities during the summer:

Teen Art Camp (ages 13 - 15) is geared towards the more mature aspiring artist. There will be no themes for this camp (only Kids’ Camp is connected to a theme). Each week students will work on several projects in various media including painting, drawing, ceramics, and digital media. Projects will vary each week so teens can sign up for multiple weeks.

The Portfolio Development Intensive (ages 16 - 18) offers students the opportunity to develop their entrance portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges over the course of four weeks. Based on the curriculums and portfolio requirements of the top five leading arts schools, a specific topic is covered each week. Through demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and art history lessons, each topic will be closely examined. At the end of each week a class critique will be held to which parents/guardians are invited.
