page.
Registration:
The Art Center offers five methods of registration: online, in person, by phone, by fax, and by standard mail.
Registration Forms:
Registrations Forms can be found in the center of our Studio School Catalogue. Photocopied facsimiles are acceptable. Handwritten notes will not be accepted.
Download Form
The Art Center does not confirm registration:
The Art Center calls to students only in the event of a class cancellation. Students should assume a class is running unless otherwise notified (5 - 7 days before the start date).
Payment Procedures:
Each class must be paid in full at the time of registration. Pro-rating is not available. A $25 fee will be assessed for any returned check.
Early Registration Reward & Late Registration Fee:
The Art Center will reward students who register by a set date with a $5 discount on each class. The Art Center will also charge any student who does not register by a set date a $10 fee. These dates are noted on our website and in our printed catalogue.
Junior Students enrolled in Adult Classes:
Students under 18 years of age must have written permission from a parent or guardian to attend any class which uses a life model.
Refunds:
Students who wish to withdraw from a class or workshop will receive a full refund upon receipt of written notification postmarked two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of a class or workshop minus a $20 handling fee. After the second week of classes, no refunds or letters of credit will be issued. A full refund will be given if the Art Center cancels a class or workshop is canceled or the class or workshop is filled before your registration is received. Refunds can be expected 3 - 4 weeks from the date requested.
Auditing & Transfers:
The Art Center allows students to audit classes with the permission of the Director of Programs. No student should be in any classroom unless registered or by permission of the Director of Programs.
Make-Up Classes:
The Art Center will only be closed for the dates listed in the Calendar of Events. Classes canceled due to holidays or instructor absence will be made up at the end of the semester. Students who miss class on their own accord will not receive a refund, letter of credit or make-up opportunity.
Instructor/Model Substitutions:
The Art Center reserves the right to substitute instructors of an equal caliber for any class or workshop. The Art Center also reserves the right to substitute life and portrait models for any reason.
Student Substitutions:
No student substitutions are allowed. Only students enrolled in a certain class may attend that class, unless they have the permission of the Director of Programs to audit that class.
Kiln:
For all registered ceramics and sculpture students, the kiln, for an additional fee, may be used to fire work. Students producing large amounts of work will be charged additional lab fees. No work created outside the Art Center’s studios may be fired at the Art Center.
Gift Certificates:
Gift Certificates for classes and workshops are available for purchase. They are not redeemable for cash to be used for membership payment or other fees.
Weather:
Please call the Art Center at 908.273.9121 for closing announcements due to inclement weather. The announcements will be recorded by 7:30 am of the morning in question and read on 101.5 FM. Also, check for updates online at www.artcenternj.org.
Photographs:
The Art Center will occasionally document classes and student work using photography and video for promotional purposes only. If you do not wish yourself or your child to be photographed, please notify the Art Center in writing.
Student Behavior:
The Art Center reserves the right to dismiss any student for inappropriate behavior.
Student Property:
The Art Center is not responsible for artwork or other property left on the premises and has no liability if such property is lost, stolen or damaged, except in instances when artwork is displayed in a gallery exhibition and insurance coverage is in place. The Art Center does not have the space to store artwork between semesters. Any artwork left after the semester ends will be discarded.
