Make jewelry and learn metalworking techniques, enameling, wax modeling, and more.

Spring Semester begins April 9.
Early Registration Discount: Register by February 26 to receive a $5 DISCOUNT on class tuition.
On-Time Registration: February 27 - April1
Late Registration: Beginning April 2 a $10 LATE FEE will be applied to class tuition.

Learn basic metalworking techniques to make a pin, pendant or belt buckle. Instruction is individualized to the skill level of each student. Demonstrations will include design, sawing, filing, soldering, texturing, polishing and stone setting. Materials used will be silver, copper or brass. All necessary tools are provided. Students provide metal, findings and sandpaper.

A smaller class size offers students an opportunity for more one-on-one student and instructor interaction. The focus of this class will be on discussing and completing individual projects. All levels are welcome as the instruction is very personalized. The class will cover techniques for creating jewelry using wax carving construction methods. Wax allows the artist to create very fluid, intricate and sculpturally exciting work. Once the model is completed, it will be cast into silver or gold. You may also mold it to create multiples. Depending on the design, the piece will be finished by soldering, setting and polishing.

CLICK HERE FOR COURSE INFORMATION:
This course will cover all skill levels, including sawing, drilling, soldering, cold connections, basic forming, use of the rolling mill, hydraulic press, and stone setting. Intermediate to advance students will receive individualized attention to stretch their skill sets which can include: mechanisms, etching, keum-boo or hollow forms. Students may refer to the work of other jewelry artists for inspiration, as well as personalizing their own design sense with instructor input.
