This comprehensive class embraces all personal styles – figurative, expressionistic or abstract. Mixed media may be used, with a focus on oil and acrylic. The goal of this class is to have students create the best possible piece of art they can, to express what they have envisioned as closely as possible, using whatever tools or medium are required. It is a “no rules” class relying on the laws of shape, color and intuition. Students work on individual projects at their own pace. Individual instruction and class discussion create a warm and supportive atmosphere.

Many of the world’s master painters have used the photograph as a visual record and inspiration for new developments in painting. The photo is a great model to inspire creation. The student will not duplicate the photo but rather interpret it. Cropping and proportional experimentation allow the artist to achieve a painting of a similar or different sensibility. The photo can be personal, travel related or from the media. Individual instruction and class discussion create a warm and supportive atmosphere.
