Enhance your multimedia skills through classes in digital photography, Adobe Photoshop®, and graphic illustration.

Summer Semester begins July 14.

This in depth photography class for beginners is designed for students who want to learn how to take inspiring pictures and have fun with their point-and-shoot or DSLR camera. Topics include basic camera operation: shutter speed, aperture, camera modes and lenses. Creative concept will include depth of field, motion, time-exposure, lighting and composition. Students will also learn how to manage and present their photos, make basic adjustments using Adobe Lightroom® and Photoshop®, and learn how to make photo-quality prints on our fine art inkjet printers. Weather depending, field trips will be included to try out new skills along with fun shooting assignments. Students should bring their own digital camera and the camera manual to the first class; additional materials will also be discussed.

Lightroom® and Photoshop® have become the most popular image editing and management programs by Adobe®. This course will introduce students to the best of both, image editing and image management. Learn how to make pictures look great in Lightroom® while using Photoshop® for other image effects such as retouching, filters and making composites of multiple images. Students will be able to export finished work via computer or by printing in the lab. This course is designed for both beginners and those with some prior Lightroom®/Photoshop® experience. This class is designed for students who want to learn about their digital point-and-shoot or DSLR camera system. Topics include basic camera operation: shutter speed, aperture, focal length, white balance and metering. Students will learn to adjust RAW images and make basic adjustments using Adobe Photoshop®. Students will also learn how to scan and make photo-quality prints on our fine art inkjet printers. Simple composition, presentation and lighting strategies will be addressed. Shooting assignments will be given. Students should bring their own digital camera, a tripod if possible, and the camera manual to the first class; additional materials will also be discussed.

This class covers the basic concepts and tools used in Photoshop®. Through demonstrations, instructional handouts and hands-on computer use, students will learn the fundamentals of digital color, retouching, colorizing, dodging and burning, and inkjet printing. The use of adjustment layers, layer masks and filters will also be explored to emphasize image enhancement and creative freedom. Students will take frequent trips (close by and one further away), do friendly in-class critiques and work more extensively with Lightroom® and basic level Photoshop®. This course is designed for students who want to learn alternative contemporary photographic processes using unconventional materials and techniques. The instructor will fully explain and show students how to use these techniques with the minimum equipment. Students will learn how to work with scanograms, motion blur, time-lapse photography, and stop motion animation using Adobe Bridge®. In addition, students will create 3D images in Photoshop®, experiment with photo print on fabric, make photo-sculptures with Epson® prints, and experiment with light painting photography.
