Job Description
Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit, in the state’s pre-eminent Studio School and center for the exhibition of contemporary art, seeks an experienced, highly motivated, innovative Director of Development & Communications. Responsibilities include providing leadership in raising contributed revenue through government grants, foundation support, corporate sponsorship and membership, individual giving and special events. The Director of Development & Communications is also responsible for managing annual budgets for the Department and identifying and developing relationships with prospective individual, foundation and corporate donors. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ fundraising experience, demonstrated ability to think strategically, and have strong communication and writing skills. Excellent organizational and management skills, as well as a successful track record in major giving, is also required.

The Director of Development & Communicaitons reports directly to the Executive director, and also works in collaboration with the senior management team and the board of Trustees. Knowledge of the visual arts and the operations of a not-for-profit arts organization is preferred. Part Time (10 hours per week)

Job Description
Responsible for working in a busy office/lab in support of the activities of the digital media lab at Visual Arts Center of New Jersey

  • Maintaining and servicing all equipment in the digital media lab.
  • Ordering supplies and equipment as needed
  • Installing and updating software on all computers
  • Installing and replacing hardware on all computers
  • Ensuring the digital lab is always color managed
  • Maintain Lab organization, cleaning, and order supplies
  • Other general lab duties as may be required

Minimum Qualifications

Work Experience
Knowledge of traditional and digital photography equipment, imaging software, and good command of photographic nomenclature.

Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of all aspects of a black-and-white traditional wet lab. Complete knowledge of the Mac OS X systems, proficiency in current versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Experience with InDesign and Final Cut Pro is a plus. Good communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of public in an informative and friendly manner. Good people skills. Comfortable working in an active and busy office and media lab environment.
